a mid month hello

heya,

As some of you might have seen... my camera basically stopped working mid-tour!

5/14/25. memorializing my camera. a powerhouse. this thing has been on every tour with me since 2018. it has photographed red rocks, the anthem, the armory. been to europe, new zealand, asia. has shot album covers, editorial pieces and years of press photos. it’s been with me for studio time at united, sonic ranch, capitol. it’s been dropped, bruised, loved…and last night during the show, it stopped working. i am grateful for the way this camera helped mold my career/eye — and it will be greatly missed. time to grow bigger and better. goodnight my Nikon ! ---- (this was the note i left on the little negative Instagram) Social Media:

....Originally, I had shared the note above on my "main" account, but felt a sense of vulnerability in posting a photo of myself and sharing something so personal. My account has always had a "focus," and drifting away from that got to me. Sometimes the weight of social media and the expectations we place on ourselves can weigh heavily. I'm lucky to have had a career launched via that App, but it doesn't change the fact that it can leave me feeling frustrated and lost.

Community, if you ever struggle with how you're viewed online, remember you're not alone. I know this sentiment is shared time and time again, but it doesn't hurt to be reminded. I've cut most social media apps out of my life (HENCE MY JOURNEY TO STARTING THIS BLOG!), but Instagram remains a daily tool. I've set timers, turned it black and white, tried to detox... but no matter what, the weight of being online still sits on the shoulders. I always encourage space away from being online (and getting into writing!) and will continue to do so.

Hey, did you know you can block "suggested Reels" if you change a few settings? Here is a tutorial - I do this every month and it keeps me from clicking on the search icon, buying dumb stuff, or doom scrolling. ~~~
